The Char Dham of Uttarakhand is one of the most sacred pilgrimage circuits for Hindus, located in the beautiful Garhwal region of the Himalayas. This holy journey includes four revered temples: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Each of these places holds deep spiritual importance. Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva, while Badrinath is the sacred abode of Lord Vishnu. Yamunotri is devoted to Goddess Yamuna, and Gangotri is dedicated to Goddess Ganga.
Traditionally, the Char Dham Yatra begins from west to east. Pilgrims first visit Yamunotri, then Gangotri, followed by Kedarnath, and finally Badrinath. This spiritual journey was revived in the 8th century by the great Hindu philosopher Adi Shankaracharya to strengthen and spread the essence of Hinduism. Today, thousands of devotees from across the world undertake this sacred yatra every year to seek blessings and experience spiritual peace in the divine Himalayas.
